Almost all the information we have about the Book Night's King comes from a Bran chapter in ASOS where he enters the Nightfort: The gathering gloom put Bran in mind of another of Old Nan's stories, the tale of Night's King. He had been the thirteenth man to lead the Night's Watch, she said; a warrior who knew no fear.
In the books, the zombie apocalypse hasnât quite kicked off yet, and the Night King is still more an urban legend than a tried and true villain. 49. Theon Greyjoy. Oh, Theon. Heâs been through
The books offer a small clue that there is indeed a connection between the Starks and the Night King, since the book's version of the character is actually the 13th Lord Commander of the Night's
In Kingâs Landing, alliances are (apparently) formed in an effort to save Westeros from the scourge of the White Walkers. But it might all be for naught as the Night King resurrects Viserion and turns the dragon to his cause. Its roots lie in the mystery on who or what are the Others and how are they âbornâ or
But can the Night King (or the Others in the books) get past the wall in other ways? I suspect they can. We have seen that wights are not simply destroyed when crossing the wall, so presumably the wall magic (if any actually exists) is a passive barrier, not an active one that banishes the animation magic or destroys the undead.
